Spring 21

The top of Firelane 1

We are officially training for the Waldo 100k in August, the last 100k we finished was Miwok in 2015. We have had a few DNFs since then and I feel like my mental toughness isn't where it use to be, so decided it is time to get a coach again. We trained with Wille from Wyeast Wolfpack for Miwok and had good success, this time I decided to ask Yassine if he had availability for another client and luckily he did.

For my long run this week Yassine had me doing 20 miles with 3000 - 4000 feet of elevation gain. We have plenty of 20 mile runs on the blog but we never record the elevation gain, I could search Strava but I decided it would be more of a pain in the ass than it was worth. So I decided to create a new route.

I knew going up to Pittock would give me at least 1000 feet of gain. I thought about doing all of Saltzman, but it was too far from Pittock for the 20 miles we were looking for. I picked Firelane 1 instead. I also added in Dogwood from top to bottom just in case the other 2 climbs weren't enough.

Luckily the route was just under 3200 feet and very runnable (ie Firelane 1). I would have liked more, but I think Susan would have killed me.
